6 PHASES OF THE HUMAN CALIPHATE CYCLE

The concept of Caliph on Earth is not merely a theory in Islam but a divine decree that has repeatedly occurred throughout human history. From the time before Prophet Adam a.s. to the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W., the role of the Caliph constantly evolves according to a specific cycle.

In this article, we will examine how Caliphs are replaced over time, how humanity keeps repeating the same mistakes, and what our role as Caliphs in the End Times should be.

1. Caliphs Before and After Prophet Adam a.s.

Humans were not the first beings appointed as Caliphs on Earth. Before Adam a.s., there were already other beings entrusted with this responsibility. However, they failed to uphold their duty, resulting in the Earth being filled with fasad (corruption) and safak (bloodshed).

When Allah S.W.T announced the creation of humans as the new Caliphs, the angels questioned, Will humans also repeat the mistakes of previous beings? (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:30). Allah S.W.T’s answer demonstrated that humans were given the freedom to choose, whether to obey or disobey.

2. The Responsibility of the Caliph: Sharia and Desire

As Caliphs, humans are not left without rules. Allah S.W.T has established Sharia as a guideline to govern the Earth with justice and harmony.

However, disobedience begins when humans follow their desires, rejecting Allah S.W.T’s laws and replacing truth with personal and material interests. This leads humans away from the path of Allah S.W.T, making them oppress themselves.

3. Every Human is a Caliph and the Test of Rank

Allah S.W.T does not only appoint Prophets and Messengers as Caliphs, but every human is a Caliph in their own capacity. Each individual has different ranks and responsibilities:

• Husband as the head of the family.
• Teacher as a leader in knowledge.
• National leaders as Ulil Amri.

Every advantage given is a test, not a privilege. Those who fail to uphold their trust justly will face severe consequences in the Hereafter.

4. The Freedom to Choose and Its Consequences

Humans are given the freedom to choose between obedience and disobedience. The consequences of these choices are borne by the individual. Disobedience leads to increasing hatred from Allah S.W.T and a continuous decline in faith.

The angels record every human action, and history has shown that nations that choose disobedience will be destroyed.

5. The History of Caliph Replacement: Nations That Were Destroyed

Allah S.W.T does not immediately destroy oppressive nations but only after they commit continuous and widespread injustice. This is what happened to past nations:

• The People of Prophet Nuh – High technological advancement but exceeded moral limits.
• The People of ‘Ād (Prophet Hud) – Rejected truth due to the arrogance of their religious leaders.
• The People of Thamud (Prophet Salih) – Arrogant rulers who rejected Sharia and challenged Allah S.W.T.

Each of these nations followed the same cycle:

1. Granted the opportunity to be Caliphs.
2. Started with faith but gradually became corrupt.
3. Prophets and messengers were sent to remind them.
4. Engaged in continuous injustice.
5. Allah S.W.T destroyed them through punishment.
6. A new Caliph was raised.

6. Repeating History: Where Do We Stand?

Today, we are at the final stage before punishment descends. The Muslim Ummah is repeating the mistakes of past nations:

• Oppressive rulers rejecting Allah S.W.T’s laws.
• Religious scholars misleading the people.
• A society obsessed with materialism and abandoning Islamic values.

However, every time a cycle of destruction occurs, a new Caliph arises to restore Islam. Just as the People of Prophet Nuh were replaced by the People of ‘Ād, who were then succeeded by the People of Thamud, our present era will also be followed by the era of the Prophetic Caliphate in the End Times.

History has proven that nations that abandon Allah S.W.T’s Sharia will be destroyed and replaced. We are now at the final stage before the rise of the Last Caliph.

As small Caliphs in our daily lives:

✔ Return to Allah S.W.T’s Sharia in all aspects of life.
✔ Reject oppression and support just leadership.
✔ Prepare for the trials of the End Times.
✔ Realize that worldly power is temporary, and the responsibility of being a Caliph is a test.
