The Location of the Quran After Its Revelation
The Quran and Its Location After Revelation
After being revealed from Lauhul Mahfuz to the side of the Rabb, the Quran was placed in a unique location that is far beyond the reach of ordinary human material perception. This location is not a place that can be physically grasped, seen with the naked eye, or studied with technology. Instead, it exists in the deepest realm of human existence and can only be accessed by those who are truly purified according to the methods prescribed by the Rabb in the Quran.
Surah Al-Waqi'ah clearly explains the specific location of the Quran after it was revealed to the Rabb.
Allah’s Oath Regarding the Location of the Quran
In Surah Al-Waqi'ah (56:75–80), Allah SWT states:
فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَاقِعِ النُّجُومِ
"So, I swear by the positions of the stars" (Verse 75)
"And indeed, it is a great oath—if you only knew." (Verse 76)
"Indeed, it is a noble Quran." (Verse 77)
"In a well-protected Book." (Verse 78)
"None touch it except the purified." (Verse 79)
"[It is] a revelation from the Rabb of the worlds." (Verse 80)
(Surah Al-Waqi'ah 56:75–80)
The Greatness of the Quran’s Status
In verses 56:75-76, Allah SWT swears by the locations of the stars, emphasizing the immense status and majesty of the Quran itself. Allah SWT is also the Rabb of the stars, and this contains deep cosmic secrets about the places of descent and ascent. However, our focus is on the grandeur of this event, which is analogized in such a manner.
The Quran is described as "Qur'an Karim" in verse 56:77, meaning a highly noble recitation. Al-Karim is one of the attributes of Allah, The Most Noble. Thus, the Quran comes from The Most Noble for us. It is not only noble because of its content but also due to its origin, which is directly from Allah, the Rabb of all worlds, through Prophet Muhammad SAW.
This is why Prophet Muhammad SAW is Rahmatan Lil Alamin (a mercy to all worlds), as through him, the Quran Al-Karim was revealed to us all.
"Kitab Maknun" and the Location of the Quran
The term "Kitab Maknun" in verse 56:78 refers to the place where the Quran is stored after its revelation. Upon deeper reflection, the meaning of "Maknun" implies a location deep within the heart, concealed and well-protected.
This place does not exist in the physical or material realm but in a micro-dimensional space within us. Within that location, there is a Book, and within that Book are the sacred verses of the Quran.
The location of that book, in which the Quran Al-Karim is inscribed, is specifically found within the "Shadr" (the purified chest of a human being).
The Human Chest as the Location of the Quran
The purified Shadr (chest) of a human is the only superior place in the universe capable of containing the Quran. This truth is affirmed in Surah Al-Hasyr, verse 21, which states that if the Quran were revealed upon a mountain, the mountain would crumble out of fear of Allah.
Thus, it is also the location of the mihrab, the throne of the Rabb, as the guiding force for our hearts and desires.
The Manifestation of Malik and Rabb Within the Human Being
Why only the human chest? Because humans are a unique creation of Allah. Within humans exist two distinct manifestations of Allah: Malik and Rabb.
1. Malik
Malik governs the physical or bodily aspects of humans, such as the body, organs, and physical form. This is why the human body has two systems: Consciousness and Unconsciousness. The heartbeat, cardiovascular system, reproductive system, and other bodily functions are managed by Allah Al-Malik, particularly within the brain (head).
2. Rabb
Meanwhile, Rabb is Al-Sulthan (the absolute power) governing the spiritual or soul aspect within our chest. Rabb holds our soul, memory, emotions, and knowledge, shaping our entire personality. Rabb exists within our chest as a spiritual influencer, providing guidance, nurturing, and arranging our lives. Rabb is also the one who tests us in this world.
This is why Allah’s oath is so weighty—because only the human chest can bear the Quran, considering the presence of Allah’s attribute Al-Karim within us.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the location of the Quran after its revelation is within the human chest—the only creation of Allah SWT with the ability to contain it due to the presence of the aspect of Rabb within us, alongside Malik, which governs our physical existence.
This exclusive position highlights the majesty of the Quran Al-Karim and the privilege of human beings as its recipients.
Let us strive to be among those who are purified, following the paths prescribed in the Quran, so that the Ruh of the Quran may be placed within our hearts, even if only in the form of a single verse.
